For the event, Chef Masuya — known for his lively, entertaining presence in the Italian dining world — and Chef Hokama are bringing their ideas together to create a special course. Chef Shuichiro Masuya of Osteria Lucca

Chef Shuichiro Masuya (Osteria Lucca)

Chef Masuya entered the culinary world at age 16, training in French cuisine at restaurants including Nihon Seinenkan Toyoken and Trianon before moving to an Italian restaurant in Tokyo. In 1992, he took a chef position at an Italian restaurant in Beijing, China, to further hone his skills. After returning to Japan, he worked at Hiroo Akka before opening Osteria Lucca in Daikanyama in 1998. He now runs Osteria Lucca ♡ Higashi Yonchome in Hiroo, and is also active in media appearances and on his YouTube channel, "Masuya's Simple is Best."

After graduating from the Ryukyu School of Culinary Arts, Chef Hokama worked at The Terrace Hotels and Okinawa Harborview Hotel before joining Hotel Monterey Okinawa Spa & Resort at its opening in 2013. He continues to draw on his training in French cuisine to bring out the best in local ingredients.
