Hotel Nikko Osaka Hosts Ibaraki Fair Featuring Chestnuts From Japan's Largest Harvest and Dried Sweet Potatoes, From September 1

Hotel Nikko Osaka, located in Osaka's Shinsaibashi district (1-3-3 Nishi-Shinsaibashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka City), is holding an Ibaraki Fair from Tuesday, September 1, through Monday, November 30, 2026, spotlighting specialty products from Ibaraki Prefecture, a region blessed with a rich natural environment and diverse seasonal produce.

During the fair, Tea Lounge "Fountain" and "Lobby Lounge" serve limited-edition sweets and drinks made with Ibaraki-grown chestnuts and dried sweet potato, while French restaurant Les Celebrites hosts a one-day tasting seminar exploring the depth of Ibaraki's chestnuts.

Ibaraki is one of Japan's leading agricultural prefectures. Its chestnuts lead the country in both cultivated area and harvest volume, while its dried sweet potatoes account for roughly 90 percent of Japan's domestic production — both specialties nurtured by the prefecture's mild climate and well-drained volcanic ash soil.

The fair brings out the best of these ingredients with the Premium Mont Blanc and Kuri Hiroi Afternoon Tea Set, both built around the rich flavor of Ibaraki chestnuts, and the Hoshiimo Milk Smoothie, which highlights the natural sweetness of dried sweet potato.

For a deeper dive into the chestnut, the hotel also holds a one-day Sweets & Mini Seminar — Autumn Sweets Tasting Party: Ibaraki's Chestnuts, featuring 笹沼太幸, a Technical Officer in the Local Products Sales Division of Ibaraki Prefecture's Sales Strategy Department, as guest speaker. He shares insights into the prefecture's rich local resources and the history, growing regions, and varietal characteristics of chestnuts and sweet potatoes, along with expert tips for enjoying them. Following the seminar, guests can sample seven kinds of sweets made with chestnuts and other autumn ingredients.

Ibaraki tourism brochures and original goods are also distributed throughout the fair.
