Asakusa's Kanmi Mitsuya to Join "ISETAN WAGASHI FES 2026" at Isetan Shinjuku with New Irodori Tebako Collection

Kanmi Mitsuya (甘味みつや), an Asakusa sweets shop that has earned widespread media coverage — including a No. 1 ranking on TV Tokyo's Soredame! as reviewed by Ishizuka Hidehiko, and recognition on Nippon TV's DayDay as a dish gourmet reporter Hikomaro would most want to eat again — will participate in "ISETAN WAGASHI FES 2026" at Isetan Shinjuku. The event runs from June 16 (Tuesday) to June 22 (Monday), 2026. The shop will bring its Shiratamahabako (白玉手箱), normally sold exclusively at its Senso-ji Nakamise Shopping Street souvenir branch, along with a new anmitsu yokan series making its debut.

About the Irodori Tebako (彩手箱)

The Irodori Tebako is a new product from Kanmi Mitsuya — an anmitsu-inspired yokan series. Each variety is topped with apricots from Chikuma, Nagano (harvested by the shop's staff themselves each year) and Yotsuboshi-variety strawberries from Takamizumi Farm in Yamamoto, Miyagi, both prepared as fruit preserves in the shop's own workshop. The shiratama gyuhi (white mochi) is made using premium flour from Shiratamaya Shinzaburo, a long-established shiratama specialist in Kumamoto. Ito-kanten agar from Izu, Shizuoka — known for its smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture with minimal aftertaste — is used throughout.

Irodori Tebako – Soso (smooth red bean paste yokan, with kuromitsu)

Irodori Tebako – Soso (楚楚)

This variety features koshi-an (smooth red bean paste) yokan made from carefully selected Tokachi, Hokkaido azuki beans, with ito-kanten agar from Izu, Shizuoka giving it a refreshingly clean sweetness. The accompanying kuromitsu is homemade, made from Hateruma Island brown sugar from Okinawa and wasanbon, simmered slowly into a lightly sweet, delicate syrup.

Irodori Tebako – Kiki (matcha red bean paste yokan, with matcha syrup)

Irodori Tebako – Kiki (嬉嬉)

The "Kiki" uses a matcha red bean paste yokan crafted with matcha from Okunishi Ryokuhouen, a long-established tea merchant in Uji, Kyoto, blended into a yokan that carries the full aroma of matcha. The attached matcha syrup — a combination of the same Uji matcha and homemade white syrup — elevates the matcha fragrance further when poured over during eating.

Irodori Tebako – Oriori (white bean paste yokan, with strawberry syrup)

Irodori Tebako – Oriori (折折)

This variety features a white bean paste yokan showcasing the rich, full-bodied flavor of carefully selected white beans. The accompanying syrup for this season is made solely from the natural juices of Yotsuboshi strawberries from Takamizumi Farm in Yamamoto, Miyagi, delivering an intensely fragrant strawberry aroma. The syrup will change with the seasons — apricot syrup is planned for later in summer.

Serving tip: Taking the Irodori Tebako out of the refrigerator a short while before eating allows the flavor of the bean paste and the silky melt of the yokan to come through more fully.
