THE RAY, the restaurant on the 7th floor of the Annex at Rihga Royal Hotel Osaka (Vignette Collection), is serving a "Rose and Afternoon Tea Lunch" from May 7 (Thursday) to June 29 (Monday), 2026. Available by online reservation only and limited to 20 servings per day, the course combines French cuisine with a full array of rose-themed sweets.

A French Course Plus Sweets, Served One Dish at a Time

The afternoon tea lunch is structured as a proper course: it begins with the restaurant's signature soup served in a Kiyomizu-yaki tenmoku bowl, followed by an appetizer, bread, and a main dish, each brought to the table in sequence. The menu is the work of Chef Kurakazu, who trained at three-starred restaurants in France, offering a relaxed pace that lets diners enjoy both the French food and the sweets lineup at their leisure.

During the same season, Nakanoshima Park—just a short walk from the hotel—sees approximately 3,700 rose plants across around 310 varieties reach full bloom, making the surrounding area ideal for a stroll before or after the meal.

Seven Rose-Paired Sweets and a Wide Tea Selection

Sweets featuring rose pairings

Seven sweets appear on the afternoon tea stand, each built around the fragrance of roses combined with a different ingredient: strawberry, lychee, ruby chocolate, raspberry, peach, white chocolate, and mixed berries. A standout is the "Rose and Mixed Berry Mini Parfait"—layers of sweet-tart berries topped with rose fragrance, presented like a bouquet in a glass.

Drinks include a seasonal rose-flavored tea as well as options such as "Pear and Osmanthus," "Pistachio Hojicha," English Breakfast, Organic Earl Grey, Orange & Spice Tea, Honeybush, and Apple & Green Rooibos, among others. Tea leaves can be changed when ordering a second cup.
