Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, which operates over 42 hotels, resorts, and residences across 25 countries, will open the Japanese restaurant and bar CHOMA at Rosewood Miyakojima (Location: 1068-1 Nikawaturi, Hirara, Miyakojima City, Okinawa; General Manager: Noriko Nakayama), Japan's first Rosewood property, in celebration of the hotel's first anniversary in March 2026.
Rosewood Miyakojima has woven the spirituality and nature philosophy inherited by Ryukyu culture throughout the entire property, honoring the land's unique story.
Located on the beachfront overlooking the beautiful ocean, CHOMA offers a multi-layered, sensory dining experience through cuisine and drinks inspired by Miyakojima's traditions, nature, and culture.
CHOMA will soft open on February 2, 2026 (Monday), with a grand opening scheduled for April. Reservations for both the restaurant and bar, along with a first anniversary accommodation package including dining credits, are now open.
About CHOMA
CHOMA is named after the fiber plant used in Miyako-jofu, one of Japan's finest hemp textiles, which represents Miyakojima's nature, advanced craftsmanship, and the island's story passed down through generations.
The restaurant CHOMA expresses the spirit of Miyako-jofu through cuisine. The delicate beauty and uncompromising handwork embodied in textile-making are reflected in the refined techniques of sushi and teppanyaki, the live, immersive atmosphere of tempura and yakitori/charcoal grilling, and cooking methods that bring out the true power of ingredients. From terrace seating overlooking the ocean to counter seats offering views of the beautiful flow like a single piece of cloth, the restaurant presents "cuisine crafted with time and care, like Miyako-jofu." Guests can enjoy unique dishes meticulously prepared with Miyakojima's bounty and carefully selected seasonal ingredients from across Japan.
CHOMA is a multi-building dining complex. Buildings housing yakitori, tempura, and sushi counters, a teppanyaki pavilion, a bar, and private dining rooms are independently arranged, creating optimal spaces for each cuisine type.
Terrace seating extends along the beachfront, allowing guests to dine while feeling the ocean nearby.
Starting February 2, 2026, select dining areas and the bar will soft open, with a grand opening planned for April. Non-hotel guests are welcome. During the soft opening period, three course menus (¥18,000, ¥25,000, and ¥35,000, all including tax and service charge) will be offered, featuring charcoal-grilled dishes and tempura centered on fresh ingredients from Miyakojima and Okinawa.

CHOMA Bar: March 1 Special Guest Shift with Bartender Shingo Gokan

The CHOMA Bar combines luxury with approachability, offering hotel-level hospitality alongside resort-style friendliness. Against the backdrop of beachfront sunsets and beautiful night skies, original cocktails inspired by the "thread, pattern, weaving, and finishing" processes of choma (Miyako-jofu raw material) tell stories unique to this location. The bar features carefully curated selections of Miyakojima awamori, Japanese sake, and domestic whiskeys, including rare bottles available nowhere else.
On March 1, the first anniversary date, CHOMA Bar will host a one-night-only guest shift with Shingo Gokan, an internationally acclaimed bartender leading the SG Group, which operates several bars ranked in the Best Bar 50 worldwide. This special evening, where Gokan's cocktails—fusing Japanese sensibility with global technique—meet Miyakojima's atmosphere, offers a fitting celebration of this milestone.
