Summer Season Kicks Off at Okinawa's Manza Beach with Ocean Athletic Park Opening on March 14

ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort in Onna Village, Okinawa, will host its annual "Manza Beach Sea Opening" ceremony on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The event marks the official start of the summer resort season with a Shinto safety prayer ritual, and on the same day, "Manza Ocean Park®" — one of Japan's largest ocean athletic parks — opens for the season.

To celebrate the opening, hotel guests will be admitted to Manza Ocean Park® free of charge on that day, while day visitors can take advantage of a special discounted rate.

This year, the resort adds a new wellness element with a family-friendly "Rhythm Exercise" session held on the beach. Set to a musical backdrop with ocean views, the program is designed to refresh the body after winter. The garden pool also opens on the same day, with a DJ-powered daytime pool party rounding out the celebrations.

Manza Beach Sea Opening Overview

Manza Beach sits within a national park on the west coast of central Okinawa and is recognized for its coral reef-fringed waters and high water clarity. The beach has earned a "Special" designation in the Ministry of the Environment's "100 Best Swimming Spots" list, drawing visitors from across Japan and beyond.

The opening ceremony will include a Shinto prayer ritual wishing for a safe and enjoyable season.

Manza Ocean Park®

Manza Ocean Park®

Manza Ocean Park® is a floating inflatable obstacle course set within the resort's swimming zone. Featuring around 40 inflatable structures — including slides and trampolines — it stretches 54m wide by 45m deep, making it one of Japan's largest ocean athletic facilities by area. Since its 2022 renovation, it has welcomed approximately 100,000 visitors.

How to enjoy it:
Tackling the floating, unstable obstacles requires balance and full-body movement — climbing, crossing, jumping, and sliding. After clearing every obstacle, groups can challenge each other to timed runs. With sections ranging from a kids' area to advanced courses, there's something for all ages.

Safety has also been carefully considered, with design features preventing children from getting trapped under equipment.
