Shin-Yokohama Prince Hotel Offers "Summer Festival Kaiseki" Inspired by Japanese Summer Traditions

Japanese Restaurant Hagoromo (40F) at Shin-Yokohama Prince Hotel (Kohoku-ku, Yokohama) is serving a limited-time kaiseki course called "夏まつり会席" (Summer Festival Kaiseki) from July 1 (Wednesday) to August 31 (Monday), 2026. Reservations are required at least 3 days in advance, and seating is limited.

The course is inspired by the sights and sounds of a Japanese summer festival — goldfish scooping stalls, insect cages, fireworks lighting up the night sky, and the chirping of insects in the grass. Seasonal ingredients and the refined techniques of Japanese cuisine are used to bring these summer scenes to the table.

Course Highlights

The meal begins with a 先附 (sakizuke) of corn tofu, a summer festival staple reimagined in the style of Japanese cuisine. The 前菜 (appetizer) arrives in a vessel shaped like an insect cage (虫篭), a familiar symbol of summer in Japan; inside, colorful dishes are arranged to evoke the excitement of catching insects as a child.

The main course features salt-grilled sweetfish (鮎の塩焼き) and grilled Japanese black wagyu beef (黒毛和牛の網焼き), evoking the food stalls at a summer festival. The meal concludes with chirashi sushi arranged to resemble a large, blooming firework.

Goldfish Scooping Dessert

The course ends with a dessert inspired by the classic festival game of goldfish scooping (金魚すくい). A tub is filled with goldfish-shaped jelly and pieces of fruit, which guests scoop up and eat — a playful finish designed to bring out the inner child.

Optional Yukata Dressing Service

An optional yukata dressing service is available for ¥14,300 per person (tax included), in cooperation with Hakubi Kyoto Kimono Academy. Guests can choose from approximately 50 yukata styles, and a professional dresser will assist with the fitting. The obi sash and all necessary accessories are included; the yukata can be taken home afterward. (Geta sandals are not included.)
