KIMONO ARCH Unveils 2025 Autumn & Winter Collection First Release: Katakai-Momen Series

KIMONO ARCH, a brand operated by Yamato Corporation (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Takayuki Yajima), will launch new "Katakai-Momen" pieces as the first installment of their 2025 Autumn & Winter Collection, available from Saturday, August 30th.

KIMONO ARCH operates under the brand concept "Viewing the world through kimono," weaving together Japan's abundant charm with interesting fragments scattered around the world into a single kimono. The brand proposes the excitement, discovery, and surprise felt when encountering a new self from the usual self through free kimono styling.

Making its debut as the first new release is the "MUST HAVE" Katakai-Momen for everyday wear. The first piece features deep, layered colors from natural dyes that create a connection with nature. The second piece utilizes reversible twill fabric construction with selectable piping options, allowing for greater originality and personalization.

This marks the opening of an ongoing collection development, presenting a noteworthy lineup.

Kimono / Katakai-Momen: Shouen × Kakishibu

Katakai-Momen Shouen Kakishibu

This piece embodies the local climate of the "sanchi" region, with yarns dyed using natural materials like shouen (pine soot), bengara (red ochre), and kakishibu (persimmon tannin), woven with the characteristic "ran-gasuri" (irregular splashed pattern) of the Ojiya region. Based on the profound ink-black color of shouen dyeing using pine soot, it layers the warmth of bengara dyeing from red clay and the unique texture and aging charm of kakishibu dyeing to express gentle depth.

  • Price: ¥73,700 (tax included, with piping construction)
  • Colors: Shouen × Kakishibu, Shouen × Bengara
  • Material: 100% Cotton

Kimono / Katakai-Momen Denim: Sax

Katakai-Momen Denim

Katakai-Momen using denim's "twill weave" technique. Since the front and back of the fabric have different colors, reversing the collar and sleeve colors during construction creates a highly original piece. Additionally, fringe piping adorning the collar, cuffs, and hem serves as an accent, creating autumn-winter appropriate styling.

Twill weave offers superior flexibility and stretchability compared to plain weave and is also attractive for its wrinkle resistance. Color variations include three options: "Ecru" reminiscent of white denim, "Sax" evoking washed denim, and "Wine" with a mature atmosphere.

  • Price: ¥73,700 (tax included, with piping construction)
  • Colors: Ecru, Sax, Wine
  • Material: 100% Cotton

Obi / Hanhabaobi Sakiori: Ivory

A sakiori (torn fabric weaving) hanhabaobi by a Yonezawa weaver skilled in weaving playful textured yarns into obi. KIMONO ARCH fabrics are used for the weft threads. Due to varying yarn thickness, length, and thickness, the sakiori sections are woven by hand like handweaving. Furthermore, each obi intentionally features different combinations of sakiori width and color sequences, making each piece unique.

  • Price: ¥96,800 (tax included)
  • Colors: Ivory, Gray
  • Material: 100% Cotton

Obijime / Bell Flower: Black

  • Price: ¥4,400 (tax included)

Jika-tabi Suminagashi
